In some areas of the sport you may not want this particular mod, but I was wondering if anybody has tried the heim tie rod ends?

I recently got on a machine with some of these installed and the steering was nearly effortless. you could turn the bars with your pinky with these. Now, as i said some may not want this, but I've seen a couple machines with these and this was the first time i actually felt the difference.

Anybody have any experience with these? I'm thinking about ordering a set.

i was thinking about doing that myself, when i made my a arms for my 400ex.. youre just going to need high misalignment spacers.. 2 per heim.. youre right, they probly arent the best for every application, but i like the idea.. it would be worth it if it would reduce arm fatigue even by a small amount

Check out the Walsh tie rod end:

The stud going through the hole is removable. You could put these in your idea and call it a day.

i'm not sure that would work since it's probably made for walsh tie rods. has the threads instead of the inserts like what a stock tie rod end would have.

Logan have you found where to buy the studs at? I have tried to find the studs for walsh's a-arms instead of buying it from them; the only place I can find is still relativily expensive at $20 a pop http://www.amstarmanufacturing.com/BallJoints.html

3rd from the bottom says $15 a piece.. i get my heim joints from ballistic fabrication, they usually have the best prices and best quality.

I had heims for tierod ends at one point. They are junk if you see any kind of mud/water.

i wouldn't say junk because tons of guys run them these days. However, i don't think a woods racer would get much benefit from them. They are more common in MX or TT racing. They literally make the steering effortless and 10x's smoother.

Are the atv heims different or something because on a custom 4-link setup on a truck, jeep, or bouncer the heims hold up very well and around here if you're not on the road you're in mud and Water

most of the guys that bash the heims have mostly likely either had an experience with crappy ones or they have never used them. especially on the a arms and spindle mounts, roll design makes them on all their a arms and they are some of the best a arms that money can buy. MX guys run them quite often, walsh, roll design, and many other brands use high quality heims.
