Ok so im a bit un/familiar to this forum... i havent really posted any usefull thread but asking for information... but in my researches along here and there, i have learned alot and was preety proud of my results in my first build so ill try to document my new build along the way...

So to make the story short... I crashed my last quad... missed a turn and (blah blah blah)... bought a blowned 400ex that had a great frame and solide bearings all around and decided to Build an engine with all my left over engines i have,

I will be buying an oversize piston for this build, but am not sure about wich size ill be aiming this build for as i have a few cylinders that could be bored and still be used.

I will also be atempting to replace a Valve Guide along this build... as i have a few heads with one broken guide and its a bummer to let them sit there...

but first will be building the base...
i have chosen my 2 crankcases out of my stock of parts they could use a sand blast but i dont really care for looks... :p its the inside thats counts
i have saved the tranny from the blown engine it looks in a usable shape, i will decide upon further inspection if any gears needs to be replace
crank shaft still undecided i have 2 oem and one hotrod and... still wondering wich one to choose... i will be doing more research on performance/durability of each... Pictures will be coming soon.. ill try to be as much up to date as possible when i work on this project

FIRST UPDATE:

Got a call from a kid around here... ended up Trading the 400ex for a 2005 crown vic P71

BUT...

I kept my 416 kit and only gave him stock stuff...

So i am now on the process of closing my 416ex engine...

i had to restart everything back to build it, and decided to have it as clean and nicely done as possible.
i took 2 of my other good casings, spent a day cleaning it all by hand with gasoline and 2 steel brushes (big and small), i ended up with 2 clean(no gunk, or metal debris stuck) casings.

i took a Honda OEM Crank with HOTROD crank bearing for this build
Hotcam Stage 2
JE 10.8:1 forged piston

the fun part was having to sort out a complete transmission... (i have 4-5 all dismantled....)
so i dug through all my gears and shafts, had them all sorted and picked the ones that had less wear, cleaned them all, lubed everything as i assembled on the shafts... blahlah blah... loll you know where im going with this... its all CLEAN not new but ALMOST NEW :p

after that i was concerned about the OIL pump... i didnt know what could be in it... so i just decided to Tear it open, Clean it all, close it and let it sit in oil for the night.

i already had a clutch basket ready with clutches and it was still in a good shape so i just took the clutches and plates out of it and had them sit in the oil until i had to put them in.

next update i should have everything closed and should go test it all out...

Things left to be done:
-Install Jug
-Finish porting my head
-Buy and install 4 new SS valves
-Buy a frame or another 400ex as cheap as i can get to drop the finished project in and Tune it
-JETTING...

i have some pictures... but i cant get them to upload... ill try to post those later

I know a lot of people stick to the oem crank. Or atleast that's what I've been hearing over at the org.

Good luck on the build man. I'm also in the midst of redoing my whole 400ex.
