im wondering what kind of ingrediants everyone uses to make thier jerky.. my cousin and me are planning on making some this weekend and were not sure what ingrediants to use

i use a 50/50 mix of soy sauce and worchester sauce....add in some salt and pepper...some cayenne peper and mix . place your meat strips in the brine and seal with saran wrap. let it sit in the fridge for 12 hours...then stir up the meat and brine...and let it sit for another 12 hours. then drain and dehydrate...AND SEND ME SOME:macho

Pappy's is like mine cept i add pineapple juice and 2 cups brown sugar.

i like that hot/sweet jerky

1. Get a ride or walk to store.
2. Get jerky off of shelf.
3. Walk to check out.
4. Pay for it.
5. Open bag.
6. Eat it.

Thats my 6 step recipe right there.

thats what i usealy do but its a whole lot cheaper making your own.. i hope it turns out:ermm:

Yeah, sometimes my mom makes some but I'm not all that great at cooking. I caught the microwave on fire a couple times:huh

ditto w/ pappy except I use the dried hot peppers (the kind you get in a shaker, know what I mean?), and I use ground vension and a 'jerky shooter' .. lol you don't have to marinade/soak quite as long.

leo i tried one of them jerky shooters....i didnt have no luck:( the ol' lady has become a master at slicing the jerky and heck she does it all now:D i have a secret place here that makes some kickass bologna and chipped deer and even slim jims. i normally get 3 or 4 deer done in all the "snack" stuff every year....except the backstraps:rolleyes: i have to save them for hatfield:devil

Ya cant use backstraps for jerky. gotta use shoulder or hind quarter for that

Jerky is awsome... I have a few bags of it in the cold room :D there are a lot of things you can do to make jerky, just depends on how you like it! I can't wait till we make more!

jerky is awsome never tryed making my own because we don't hunt lol, but yeah i eat it from time to time :)

Damnit now I want jerky, I am addicted to that stuff. I have never made it, but it sounds like a good idea. I get it from a Jerky and Peperrette store near by, they make awesome stuff!
