Gncc,harescramble,xc what size front tire?

What size front tire do people normally use for GNCC XC and MX type of riding?

There are exceptions, but most people use

20" front/18" rear for MX

21-22" front/20-22" rear for XC

Gncc I use 22 fronts and 20 or 21 rears

22-21 fronts, 20 rears. You want larger tires if the terrain is severely rutted tho.

I used to run 22" rears and 23" fronts but be carful when buying tires some are taller and some are shorter... Iv not found a better tire than a razr2 for the front in mud and the I razr worked so well in the dry and where lighter. Just rember when changing tires sizes your suspension will need to be tweaked or changed over to a set build and tuned for the difference in ride height and extra weight....


In mud and big rocks I prefer the 22/23s" all the way around on dry and in a racing conditions I always choose the 21/20s"

i run 21/20 as everyone else does. i have my suspension set at the "recommended" lol 7" at the pegs with my butt on it. ive never had an issue with ruts yet and even at this years "the gusher" gncc, i had no problem..

Well, to me the 400EX turns well enough that I feel it turns fine with 22" front tires. So I am OK with 22" or 21" as front tire size is not a deciding factor for me in that aspect.

However, I do assume that mere size alone will become a consideration after I do my suspension, particularly if I don't use Fox shocks on the front. The reason is ride height and frame rake. Once you get the rear linkage that drops her down some by default, I would guess you may end up rear biased too much and raked out an additional close to a 1/2" with 22" front tires... causing you to have to mess with preload.
