View Full Version : UPP Racing Trx450r Case Saver?

So I ordered my a Upp Racing Trx450r case saver after researching that is was the best case saver available and it might offer the best protection, but it stops there. It fits ok, but the finish leaves something to be desired and mine has a visible hole on the top side. Upp says it's normal? It looks like that area is finished by hand and someone went a little to far. Anyone else have the same hole?

i would be very upset if i purchased a product like that and one of the main mounting points was so thin it had a hole worn into it> i have a poly sproket guard and i cant complain.

Upp makes the moose ones, they are identical......and definitely send that back and tell them you want one without a hole in it. I run a delrin one, but i know that the upp are not supposed to have that hole like that.

One thing also to consider if you're planning to ever run a 15t you'll have to do a little grinding on the case saver. I just shaved it off until the chain cleared on my delrin one.

You realize delrin is a brand name for poly (whatever the rest of the chemical name they call it)....... so the poly savers are delrin.....

i was not aware of that (hope you weren't reading wikipedia again, lol) I thought delrin was a different material, harder than polyurethane......In fact i know it is,but that's not why i got the delrin. I got it because it was a little cheaper and is very similar to the poly ones. Delrin and polyurethane have different chemical makeups.

the poly case savers for our machines are made of polyurethane

and the delrin ones are delrin

delrin and polyurethane are both very popular for control arm bushings on vehicles. Most prefer the delrin because it is a little harder and doesn't turn to mush so easily. For the application of a case saver though, poly may be better as it will absorb more impact than delrin, that is something that would have to be tested. The main thing not to use is aluminum, it's too strong and will rip the bosses right out of the case.

here's more info on poly than you'll ever need.

here's some delrin info, again more than you'll ever need.

Can you please post a pic of the moose saver before I throw away another 50$, I heard they are the same but who knows?

Here is UPP's reply to my concern and request to get another one sent out.

"No it’s fine the new molding is thin there. That has nothing to do with the protection. We had to modify our molding some of the new factory cases have a flaw there so we had to adjust to it.
Thanks
UPP"

There's no garuntee that your moose one won't have the same thing. It sounds like they changed the modling a little bit, and since UPP makes the moose ones, i don't think they will be any different unless you get an older stock that somebody still have laying around. The moldings do get very thin with the moose and upps, this is another reason i went with the delrin non molded one. it's thick all the way and still pushed up against the case, so if the chain pops it will stil have the same support from the case mold, but won't have super thin areas like the upp and moose do.

Agree hence my hesitation to order the moose saver. It looks to me like the finish work is done by hand on these case savers and who ever finished this one went to far.

Delrin is a material but who makes your Delrin case saver?

Thanks

from the looks of it, this is better than any poly saver i've ever seen. This will be the next saver i purchase if mine ever needs replaced or if i pickup a new machine.

Looks like the guy deflashing it got a little carried away, you can clearly see the sanding marks, it will not affect the job it does, they just sanded thru the counterbore for the fastener, try and return it for another one. the polyurethane ones from moose and upp are molded, meaning they are cast from a 2 part polyurethane resin system, the delrin ones are machined from a piece of delrin, both much better than aluminum. I would recommend the polyurethane myself.

So you have a delrin one and a stock on on your bike? Man... If I had a nickle for every time you lied online I'd own every forum and ban you from all of them, lol.. Hows those pics of the rear suspension set up you don't have on your 400ex coming along? lmao... douche bag.

Alan, don't forget about the stage2 hotcam that's been I his signature for months that he just bought last week lol... The one he bought before had a bad bearing that never went into his bike.... I guess I should start a signature with all the parts I have on the shelf, my bike would be a monster truck!! LMFAO!
http://www.atvriders.com/vbb/showthread.php?507108-who-has-a-cam-WTB-trx450r-04-05-stage-2-hotcam

looking for a stage 2, purchased one used and the bearing was shot, can't use it. if i don't find anybody with one i'll buy new, but would love to save as this is a budget build.
Merry christmas Ryan... I hope your stepdad sh*ts in your stocking!

I run a delrin case saver always have and i already said that. I bought the swingarm slider that Samel was talking about from the company I linked. It will replace the stock one. Never said anything about a stock case saver. You feel free to ask the guy on fscebook if i purchased one he will tell ya. You guys really need to get a life. Better read what I say before ya pile on fellas. I'm tired of you trying to call me out get a life Ed and Alan the facts are straight you are just making attempts to bend them.

You can look in my SIG and see it says WIP. Do I need to explain what that means?

Alan my first carb bore was sent out a month or so ago look on the forum I started a thread about it. First time I've done this. Do you guys miss me on the org or why do troll me?. Please keep your bad mouthing on the org we dont want it here.

Please read what sameltoe and I are referring too its the swimgsrm slider not the stock case saver that you and bailey are for some reason confused about. If you read what I wrote you will see I said my stock one is shot. How exactly does a stock case saver get shot? The slider is a wear part and mine is shot.

I guess I should have asked first do you guys know the difference between a chain slider and a case saver? Theyare 2 seperste pparts. Either way wow what incredibly rude and hateful posts Ed and Alan.

This was a great thread before you guys brought the hate.
