I got my quad out to rip in the snow today for pretty much the first time since i bought it and coming off a 400ex this whole 450 concept is still new to me along with the idle deal. I had my dad mess with it a little bit but i dont have much of a clue with it. While i was riding it kept revving real high sometimes and when i would stop with the clutch in it would stay revved real high unless i like the let the clutch back out and pull it back in. It just wasnt idling and revving right it seemed like.

could be an air leak in the motor some where or check your throttle cabel make sure its routed in the right spot and lube it up

Sounds like it could be a lean condition, either from lean pilot or leak in the carb boots. Have you tried cleaning the carb?

Air leak, lean condition. Id clean the carb as well and check over all the boots to make sure its not leaking. Did you adjust the idle with it warm yet?

Id say its the air/fuel screw needing adjustment tho.

I know on my 04 you can have the idle a bit higher when its still warming up and then readjust it when warm a bit.

Id say mess with the carb first and check for air leaks.

make sure you don't have the choke stuck on.
