tire choice

I've been thinking about getting new tires for quite some time now, right now I have Kenda Klaw XCR's and I hate them, lol. The first tires I had on my 400 were original Razrs, I also had ITP GNCC Holeshots. I guess im just looking for an opinion on the new Razr XCs and the Razr Ballances, or if there are any other good ones to check out. I really did like the original Razrs, and it seems like it's what all the pros use, but i'd like to hear some of your opinions before buying again..

I like razr2 fronts/razr2 rear on my 450. 400 doesnt have enough oomph to pull that tho, razr2 front/razr1 rear are what I would run. I had the klaws, they were ok for the first few rides then sucked, ITP gncc are too soft and the ballances and XC's are $$$.

I ran the holeshot, then razr, then gncc, now xrex and the xrex is so far my favorite

I run Razr2's up front and Razr xc's on the rear and I really like that setup.

Ive had the razr XC rears for almost a year now and ive been really happy with em. they hook up great in pretty much anything. even in deep soup mud they just dig and get you through it. when they were brand new it was kinda hard for me to get em to slide and spin and break traction when I wanted, but I got used to em and they are predictable when you get some ride time with em. and I think the knobs are a hair taller and bigger than regular razrs, and have a little more spacing.

I run the XC Master or the GBC Xrex on my hundy. They are the same tire they just changed names. I also think they are almost identical to the razr's. Great tires in my opinion! 400's have plenty of power to pull either of these tires.

i currently run kenda klaw xc fronts and kenda kutter xc rears. i like this combination of tire and the kutter xc's hook up great in all conditions. my next tire set up will be GBC's though.

if you go the GBC route, which im doing with my next tire, get the new xc-master/xc-racer tires. the old design, the x-rex and race-rex were good tires, but the race-rex had a bad bad side wall design and would constantly get tears and wholes in the side walls. for any type of xc racing action, some sort of flat prevention (tire balls/barbie balls) were a must! there were not really any problems with the x-rex because they are essentially a razr2 copy. a lot of racers would run a x-rex front/race-rex rear combination because the race-rex was lighter and allegedly had better "slick mud" traction.

GBC redesigned the tires and came out iwth teh xc-master and xc-racer. slightly different compounds and tread designs, i guess improvements in both departments. lots of guys run them, adn if you go to the GNCC's, lots of guys there run them too. a couple of pro's i can think of that run them, kevin yoho, johnny Gallagher, jeff pickens, tacey cecco-pickens, and a few good XC2 and A-class guys as well.
