spend a little more and buy one of these

http://www.ebay.com/itm/honda-TRX-400EX-ccp-steering-stabilizer-/271326790230?pt=Motors_ATV_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3f2c564256&vxp=mtr#ht_70wt_685

or you could spend a little more, and buy a used precision and have it rebuilt if need be. the precisions are the gold standard and can be had used in good condition for $250-$300

I was looking at those ccp ones but I couldn't find any reviews on them but as far as buying a used precision for $300 I would just spend the extra $150 and get a new one

theyre good, i have one and know a lot of other guys that do to. theyre not precision, but they are definitely better than a stick type and have saved me from breaking my wrists in the woods several times. occasionally i'll hit something in a race that causes the bars to jolt pretty good, but i set mine on the mid setting (4/8) and it works great. my buddy, who's faster than me, sets his on 3/8 and he says it suits him perfectly.

I don't need it this weekend I just want one but there's some things that I would rather not buy used

No reason not to buy one used if its in good shape. 200 is the cost for new, they can be had for about 100 or so used. I have had a ccp on a 400ex and my 450 and I wont run anything else. They work better than the stick type and are rebuild-able. If the guy isnt selling a 400ex one send him a message thru ebay and he will post them.

So I would think that the CCP on ebay for 174.00 new, free shipping is a good deal...?

Decent deal, I honestly paid 200 shipped for mine for my 450 but I know the quality is there and how well they work.

I'll probably just get a new ccp they are a reasonable price and I trust you on saying they are good quality I just like to hear other peoples thoughts on something before I buy it

I've got one on my 400 also. Good solid piece. I would definitely recommend it over the stick style and the Precision if you don't have the money for it.

I run stick style (PEP) so i personally can't compare the 2 (because i have never run puck style). For the guys who say the puck style is better, how exactly do they work better? I know they tend to last longer, but how would you explain that they work better? In the superbike world, stick style is the only way to go with these, i believe it's because you have a tripple tree with forks instead of a single stem. The stick style are also rebuildable and it's very easy. The reason i would not buy a used one is because you don't know how much use it has and it very well may need a rebuild.

also how many settings are on the puck style? mine has 8 different settings.

^^^^you really don't know how nice they are until you have one. i probably wouldn't want to ride the woods without one now that i've gotten used to having one. THe next thing on the list for my 400 is some of those fandagle flex bars, i've heard they are night and day on long trail races.
