I have an ac full chassis skid plate on my 400ex and a moose racing swingarm skid and was wondering if theyll fit on my 450? I think ive read before that they wont but can they with a little fananglon and modifying maybe just drill new holes for te swingarm skid or what

I don't think the swinger skid will work at all since the swinger is longer and everything will be thrown off from that. I guess you could line the back up with the rotor and sprocket, then drill new holes, but it won't look quite right and the front 1" or so of the swinger won't be protected like it would with a 450 skid. The frame skid should work, but the front part won't be as long as it should be because the front of the 450 is longer than 400. So again, you can get it to work, but won't get the same amount of protection

I am not sure if there would be any differences with the shock linkage since I am using the 400ex linkage. However, I have a 400ex with a 450r rear shock and 450r swingarm. I used my skid plate off of my 400ex swingarm when I went to the 450r swinger and it worked fine. All the bolt holes lined up properly, just had to add a few washers between the swinger and skid plate to space it out so the brake rotor had enough clearance.

I did the same thing as fix29. I put a 450r rear end on my 400ex, which included 450 swinger, axle, brakes, shock linkage, i kept the 400ex shock though.

I was able to use the old skid that was on the 400ex on my 450r, not sure about the chassis skid, but the swinger skid did work, and it probably will vary depending on the brand and type. i'd just take it off your 400 and try it out to see that's going to be the best way.

Huh, I figured it wouldn't work because they had 6 bolts instead of 4. But I guess if 4 of them line up then It works. Learn something new everyday.
