Im trying to find some big foam hand guards like what you see on all the pro level gncc and xc racers on the real muddy races. from the videos and stuff it looks like they use some that covers their whole hand and keeps most of the mud out of the controls and grips. if you look at these pics you can get an idea of what I mean:

But all I can seem to find is these, which don't really cover your whole hand: http://www.ebay.com/itm/MOOSE-RACING-FOAM-HANDGUARDS-MUD-MX-ATV-MOTORCYCLE-/281165381730?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item4176c34062&vxp=mtr

Powermadd gauntlets that's what there called or the big hand guards are just called elephant ears from moose racing in my opinion powermadd gauntlets are better

agree'd with above, powermadd's is what i use and is what you see most pros run. they're like $40 for a set and work great.

note: when i say work great, that should come with and asterik. they work awesome for normal to mild conditions. in race situations like the gusher or the mammoth gncc this year, where it was a muddy hell, they work good till they get so caked with mud that the mud becomes to heavy and they want to fall off

i did though however, make the mistake of not running hte gauntlets at the gusher. it wasnt raining prior to the AM race, so as i got to the line to line up, it started to pour. it would have taken to long to go back to the trailer and get them and put them on. by the end of hte race, it was so muddy that i could barely hang out to the grips at all. it was boarder line, no, it was over teh boarder of being dangerous

If you run full wrap hand guards, you can put a small hole in the end of the gauntlets and run the bolt through hole. This will keep that end secure. A lot of people run duct tape around the other end to keep the strap from coming loose. Also, I've seen people put coat hanger wire on the inside to keep them off you hands. I've never had to do that, as the bolt and duct tape prevent them from falling off. The weight of mud on top never bothered me though.

early Christmas present from the GF :) I got me some of this big thick welding wire we use at work, its about the same size as a coat hanger but a lot stiffer, and run it inside the guards to keep em round, worked perfect. also run the bolt on the end of the handle bars through em and now they are ready for action. rode a lil bit with em and your hands deffinatly stay clean/warm/dry. they take a lil getting use to though cause they kinda block my view of my front tires when going through real tight trees. and from a front view they look like mickey mouse ears :p

cant wait to try em out in a muddy race or trail ride

does that extended tank just screw into the stock tank or is that a part of the entire oversized tank? nifty idea if it just screws on, then you could take it off when you didn't want it.

its a single unit tank. no such a thing as a two piece fuel tank. its shaped the way it is to allow the fenders to mount correctly.

nah ive not had any issues with em being in the way. only thing maybe is the clamps for the hand guards touch a lil bit when you turn sharp. thats about it.

I have another clear one just like it that's busted by the gas cap, from where I flipped it down a big hill. wish I could find some way to fix it :ermm:

That's good because I was going to buy one and I was told that I would need to run a +1 or +2 steering stem

well if you dont like the big "bubble" tank, you could try the clarke 5 gallon tank. mine is around a 4 gallon i think? the clarke doesnt stick up tall like the ims
