In reading the thread bout drag racing, got me thinking about different rims and their weight vs stock. Does anyone know of the weight of the stock 400 rims? Also is there and aftermarket tire rim combo that saves an weight over the stock setup? Every little bit helps on lower hp motors.

I'm wandering the same thing too.

But if you want wheels for strictly drag racing, get Douglas .125 wheels.

Get douglas blue labels on Ohtsu radials, best drag set up hands down. http://www.farmandsandtoys.com/partdetail.asp?partid=174

Yeah that combo does killer at our track. Plus the original stock dunlops do good too. Maxxis 4 snows do pretty good too so I would take a look at them. That's what I use. :D

I'm still debating on getting them light sand tires for the front since people reported a slight decrease in time with them. I heard they have that "floating" effect but I'm still not sure.

It's for trail riding to. Mostly sandy soil. I mean can the .125's hold up?

You don't want that light for train riding unless there is absolutely no rocks or stumps you could hit.

Yeah thats what I was thinking, the next ones up are the black labels which have a .160 thickness. Now I'm thinking those might be fine. I see there is another .125 with a rolled lip that is suppose to be a lil stronger as well.

The .160s would be fine for you since you are doing trails. The .125s are pretty much strictly for drag racing.

Wish more people would chime in now a days. This subforum must be dying.

Agreed, this forum used to be thriving with tons of info from lots of good sources. Most seem to have moved on.

Does anyone know where they went?? I would like to continue learning/reading about 400's, but I have not found any other 400 specific forums?

Some bought 450's, others just kinda drifted away. Guess it's up to us to keep it going.

There's a ton of info in here, just gotta start looking through the old threads. Stuff just doesn't come up as often because there isn't enough traffic on here anymore. Everyone has moved to 450s, only a few of us die hard 400 guys left on the forum.

Yes, but with me it's the other direction. I went to 450's now I'm coming back to the 400's. I just don't care for the 450's all that much after 3 years of seat time.

Nooooo. I'll have to start posting in the 450 thread with some stuff.

Don't look too active over there either. :p

I guess there isn't many who left 400s, they just don't post anymore. The main guys who were always on here (dxcody, boneless, CJM) all went to the 450s. CJM stills posts, but he doesn't have a 400 anymore. Cody and boneless both sold there's and I hardly ever see them post in here.

Yeah, thing is I see as many 400's on the trail now as I ever have.

Is there another 400ex forum that is pretty active?

Sucks cause I just got 1,000 posts not too long ago..

I am on here everyday, mostly watching the build threads, really anything that is new. I read many of the old threads to get ideas to upgrade my 400. The info I got here has been priceless. I just wondered if people found another place that had a sub-forum for 400's. I guess we are the last of a dying breed..................

Only really other forum is HOndaatvforums.net, but that is pretty weak as well. This is kind of the last stand for the old air cooled 400. Everything is 450's now if it's sport quad related.

Yeah I'm signed up over there too and some other Honda forum but they're not as good as this one.

I'll never sell my 400 so I'll be here awhile. I just don't know as much as everyone else does.
