Any of you guys running the 450r front brake set-up setup with 4:1 front rims? I read through what I could here and it looks tight. Do 04-05 spindles or 06 and up spindles offer more space? Thx

I'm running yfz front calipers with 4:1 and have plenty of room

I'm planning on doing a 450R front end swap this winter on mine, then getting 4:1 Hiper rims. Let me know what you end up doing and if it works. Or I'll do the same.

i think you need even more clearance than I do with Hipers, I don`t own any but I think they are a bit bulkier than alloy rims.

Well I've got 4:1 Hipers on my 450R, so I'd think it would work on the 400 since it's the same size rim and the same calipers and spindles that will be on the 400.

makes sense.. only thing that left me with doubt was a few concerns posted by others. somebody posted a pic up here with a tie rod being really close to the rim and I believe it was a 3:2 or whatever stock is.

Was that Wheelies thread? I remember reading it and seeing the pics of his setup and the tie rods are close, but they cleared. I can't remember what rims he used though. I may be able to find it if I looked, but I can't remember the name.

What is the benefit in going to the trouble to do this?

Improves the handling some with 450s spindles, but it's mainly for the better twin piston front brakes. I would do the YFZ calipers, but I have an '06 450R I've been wanting to swap the front end to the '04-'05 style and then I'd have the '06 front end left over, so I figure I'll just stick it on the 400 and be done with it.
