Trx250 ex mystery axle part?

2001 trx250ex,Just finished driving the bearings out of the left side of the swing arm and a white plastic ring with the outside diameter of the bearings came flying out as well. I did not see where it was so I dont know where it goes.In front of bearings? between bearings ? behind? I cannot find it on a parts diagram and don't see it in the service manual. cant do anymore work until I figure out where it goes.

Well after looking closely it appears that the old"original" bearing were only sealed on one side and the ring fits into the open side of each bearing and holds them together? my new bearings are sealed on both sides and this ring wont fit into them.is this something that needs to go back in or can I just install the new bearings without it?
