Going to order a few and wondering where I should be at. Before I did the port and valves I was at 170 main and 42 pilot. I needed to go to a 45 pilot as is so I will do that. For the main I was thinking 200-210 and go down? Mods are in sig and it's stock carb..

I'd agree with that, maybe even try a 230 or 220 and go down. I'm runnin a 230 in mine and I don't even have the port and polish or bigger valves.

Always better to start high and go down.

What would be The Max size carb to look at? I can get a good deal on a lectron 44 and lectron says you will get the same or better performance with their carb as opposed to a tricky AP carb.

if it were me I'd stay with an FCR or 450r carb.. lots of info on them and they are easy to play with

What makes you say that besides all the info. Relatively speaking the lectron is 10 times simpler. Plus I like to be different lol

I've never seen a lectron on anything but banshees

To each their own.. typically the FCR is the best carb for MX/TT racing on a thumper. And they are easy to find parts for. I found one off a CRF250 dirt bike for diiirt cheap and had it bored out to 42.5mm for my 471 stroker 450r. I can swap mains with the carb installed in less than 2 minutes I've gotten so familiar with them.. (buddy just put a 39mm FCR off a YFZ on his z400 and it made a HUGE difference too)

I'm sure the lectron would be a good upgrade over stock and if you want to be different go for it. I've mostly seen lectrons on bigbore drag racing bikes in the 45-48mm range

more mods doesn't always equal bigger jets.

My stock set up require a lot bigger jets than most 400s around here .

The 44mm lectron is a bad *** carb, but its more of a drag racing carb better suited for ballz out full throttle drag racing type riding. Sure it will work good for mid range and cruising around, but unless your a WOT kinda rider then the 450r or bored out fcr will be a better option.

I see the 44mm lectron being used on big bore raptors and things. I am going to try and find a 40mm lectron since the other one fell through..

look for a thread by Dropped_mazda called drag 400ex, he had a 44mill lectron and actually had vid of him racing with that carb.

not alot of info on the carb in the thread, but it will give you insight on how good it actually is.
