my neighbour had a 2003 400ex that was quoted at $2000 in work at the local shop. It needed hubs, axle, and bearing carrier. Anyway long story short i bought it and have it almost all back together. I noticed when i ran it i would have a little drip of oil come from under the oil filter cover so i took it off to have a look only to find the filter was on backwards..

I talked to my neighbour and he said he only rode it once after the oil change. The engine sounds like its running ok, i was planning on getting a new filter (o-ring was damaged) and changing the oil. Gonna check the valve clearances as well while im doing the oil change cuz who knows when that was last checked. Anything else i should do just as a precaution?

It should be fine, I wouldn't worry about it.

I buy the Wix oil filter 24944 (Oreilly's), it comes with a new o-ring for the cover.
