I know i shouldnt be asking this in a honda fourm but i was either thinking building a Arens ex/crf450r with all his componets and others top of the line basicly, and buy some used parts off ECA...

Or build a z400, as in top of line arms swinger axle and stem etc do the motor over and all....

i am most likely gonna go with the crf just wanted input of others... Is the z-400 that good of a quad... ******** said farr is selling his crfs for built z-400s:huh
Oh yea im looking to spend about 12000 and yes i can build a crf for 12000 with going some used parts....

What would you do.........?

tough call you could make a pimp z450 that i think would hang with a crf all depends on what parts you would get for the crf and z

alll arens componets if i go crf and leager or gibson for z.... i would like to also go alum... frame with Z later on ...... but i think the crf would be cool to just its not 250R based like all the other crf quads.. if i went that way i would go herrmann but thats like 16000 for a rolling:eek2: I wanted to cut cost a little

well if you have any mechanical knowledge the CRF sounds like a better fit. But the z400 would be easier because you already have a quad and every part you need to start out with. I am thinking of a arens crf too, i just want to see one of his frames all bolted up on a quad with the crf engine in there.

CRF no doubt.

I would go with the z400.It is already in a qaud frame.Has electric start and reverse.

Put a big bore/stroker kit and Aftermarket suspension, etc and it would kick arse!

dont put a crf in a stock 400ex frame whatever u do....thats a waste of money

no its aftermarket but stock 400ex geometry and all the other manufactures are 250r based(walsh houser leagers herrmann etc I know the crf has the power just dont know if the Z would be as good...

03-19-2003, 03:35 PM
i dont see how a z could be competitive with a crf , i dunno the drz bike isnt all that and the crf stomps it i dunno about a yoshi drz

Thing is i would want to run a few nationals this year dont you have to bore a crf 450 down to 440 correct?

03-19-2003, 03:41 PM
i think so, id get a big bore and run the open class

03-19-2003, 03:42 PM
crf 450 for sure... god those are hot

the biggest fear i have with the crf engine in a quad frame is the tranny. i talked with several builders about this issue and it seems like they are divided 50/50 on it also.:(

There is a Walsh 426 chassis for sale on ********,I heard the new yzf450 fits in the 426 chassis pretty close to the same

1badcrf- If I were you, I would get a 300ex. More than likely you will never be able to use the power the crf has. You can have the baddest motor in the world, but you still have to ride it!

I gotta agree with Mr.P. If you gotta ask which quad is better, you seem pretty clueless in my mind. 1badcrf is clueless in my mind.
