I actually just talked to him the other day I am going to look around and see what everyone has before I move forward on that one...has anybody had a legacy frame like that and are they good compared to Walsh or laeger?

Can I ask why you are against a Houser frame (just curious)?
Also 250R and 400ex chassis geometry is the same

There is a laeger yz in southern indiana. Its a 426 quad though full laeger chassis fliptop t-pin front end. I just texted him to see if its still there.

Im pretty sure i know that legacy quad. It was owned by a kid 20 minutes away from me last summer. Its one of John Natalies old quads. it was ragged out when i tried to buy it last year. It appears the new owner has done a lot of work to it tho. The kid that got ahold of it called me wanting to buy a 450R head for this new "all race ready 450R" he just bought. When he sent me pictures i screwed up. I offered to trade him a running bike for it and informed him that it wasnt a 450R. after countless txt back and forth of him telling me it was a 450R and me digging up info on that specific quad he finally realized i was right. when he found out it was an ex pro quad it immediately went to a 7,000 price tag and i laughed at him. He wrote me a month or so later and told me he had traded it for a pro Z400 with a hydrodynamic front end lol. I was sick however that i had given him so much info and let the quad get away. I wanted it bad as soon as he sent me a picture of it, even tho it was rough. Here is how it sat when i tried to buy it..

You end up buying that legacy or go a different route?

shadd_27

i talked it over with john natalie he said stay away from it because legacy is out of business and parts will be harder to get but for the deal i'm working i think it is still worth doing, the guy that has it is getting back with me tomorrow or friday to finalize a trade for some stuff i have and would like to get rid of anyways so i should have it this weekend or beginning of the week depending on my work schedule to pick it up he is only a couple hours away so that makes it nice

also seen a ltr/crf in NY i may be interested in if this legacy falls through i think it would be worth the drive from ohio

I do not dare question the word of J. Natalie BUT, The guy replaced the components with JB stuff so parts will be easy to get and replace..

And on an LTR....them things are HEAVY!

shadd_27
10-03-2013, 01:39 AM
True on heavy but all efi crap will be gone and makes more power so it should be a good bike and great handling

I could see parts being somewhat of a worry, But honestly its a hybrid and a well talented machinist can make anything ya need haha. Honestly my only worry with buying it like it is today is that i would allow myself a budget for a crank replacement. I seen in his add he didnt replace the crank. Why spend all that money elsewhere and not replace a crank is beyond me but im anal about preventive maintenance. If thats the same crank that John rode on we all know its banged off the rev limiter for several revolutions lol

shadd_27

no way that crank lasted 7 years also planned on stroker kit in it anyways motor build and shock revalve over winter since it is all stock and set for lighter rider than me, im sure he didnt port head or anything being new but the guy can ride it i watched videos and seen pics of the bike in action on his facebook page

I know they are similar but I would try to find 250r Geometry if you can rather then 400ex geo.

I second that also hard to beat a narrow frame and a bike linkage rear suspension setup. I just seen he was interested in 400ex geo thought I would throw it out there.

shadd_27
10-05-2013, 11:03 PM
NOT 400ex GEO or houser frame atvcrazy i was wanting 250r but thanks for the lookout decent price on it too really just those are the 2 things i didnt want

Yeah that's the kid who drove to buy that frame and put it in his compact car or something for the drive back and then he wanted to sell it the next week. Its a PRP frame right?
