How many cans of brake and carb clean will it take over the life of that thing to clean it? or gas or whatever you use to clean it?

Ive been using tusk oil filters for years, as well as hiflo brand and never had an issue ever. For the 2 bucks they are you can buy in bulk.

they work great they flow LOTS of oil and are easily cleaned with soapy water and a air compressor

I go through about 15 oil filters a year. I have considered these reusable ones. The carb cleaner and gas argument for cleaning is a moot point. You can buy a can of carb cleaner for the price of ONE tusk or hi flo filter. I'm betting you could clean the stainless 5 times with 1 can of car cleaner so those dont' quite cancel out. The only reason i haven't switched to the SS oil filters is because i'm lazy and i like to just throw my old one out and put the new one in. For $3 a piece it's not worth the effort to clean the SS.

I've got a Scott's SS oil filter on mine and had it for about a year now and it works great. I think it's more than paid for itself and I use brake cleaner for everything so I always have some in the shop anyway.

my oil gets changes 2-3 hours and I use tusk filters.. part of the ritual of changin the oil is checking the ol' filter for shavings

can you check the SS filters for shavings or no? I cut my filters open too but i figured it would be easier if nothing else to see visible shavings in the SS ones.

yes all the shavings and anything else will get caught in it and is very visible, youll see them for sure.
