Well guys I no longer have my ltr450. Traded it for a super clean 86 trx250r today and am loving it all besides the twist throttle! I hate that freaking thing with a passion. Anyways it looks like the cable is built into the cap so that would tell me its a stock carb right? It runs like a champ and has a lot of power. Now what im looking to figure out is my throttle cable for the twist throttle good for the thumb throttle? He gave me a thumb throttle with it. Now I am looking to get a cable if this one will not work. I read that it may be long but havent gotten a straight answer.

btw this is the 250r i have now, pics do it no justice!

what carb is on it? If the cable is built in the cap,I would think its a stock carb.

I am assuming its built in it sure looks like it. I can grab a pic of it real quick and post it if that will help to determine what it is. I was told it has some good port work done and was dyno tuned when built. From what I understand I am the 3rd owner.

looks like a 38 a/s by the hoses, but the something with the cap doesn't look right. Maybe its off a dirtbike that had the same carb. try and unscrew the cable end or tug on the cable to see if its tightly in there.

Found the numbers on the carb. PJ15KAJG. I saw on a quick lookup that cr125 came up a lot.

Ok I took the cap off and the cable is seperate from the carb. It has a more flat slide than an airstryker from what I can remember. Now it's been years since I've messed with one of these so forgive me for any mistakes that WILL occur.

EDIT: Found out it is a 36mm pj carb. i didnt realize they had the flat slide in them but I learn something new every day. Its the stock carburetor off a cr125 from what im seeing, good for low end grunt but not so much for top end on a bigger engine which isnt a big deal. Now here comes the fun part in finding a cable to work with a thumb throttle

Can anyone tell me what tank this is? I'm thinking a Clarke tank but want to be 100%

I figured out a way to get the stock cable from the cr125 that was on the twist throttle to work with a 400ex thumb throttle without having to shave down the inside of the throttle housing on the 400ex throttle. Works great, and doesnt look that bad IMO. Ill be replacing it with the right equipment but for now it definitely works great. Opens up the carb perfectly wide open.

Motion Pro makes a cable for the stock thumb throttle and stock carb, part number 02-0191

I always used Motion Pro part 01-0604, it works with the stock thumb and a carburetor that already has it's own cap, like a 38mm PWK.

Thanks for the response. It'll be good info to have later. The carb on it is a cr125 stock carb. 36mm

Wish I had known you were willing to trade your LTR for a 250R, I would have traded you in a heartbeat...

For the one in your sig? I never get much action on this site from anything I post so I stay away from the classifieds. I'm happy so far just not wide enough for my liking at this point

Thanks for that heads up. I wonder if an OEM cable with the cap will work on a 36mm carb?

The carb isn't a PWK/Air Stryker, which would be a D slide, it's a newer style PJ oval slide which had the same style vent tubes as a PWK. Measure the ID of the intake side, if it's 38mm it's probably from a mid '90s CR250.
