help! my pipe gets really hot i mean hot enough to burn my pants
it has been goin on for some time now. what do i do?

thats normal. Mine has gotten that hot. but it could be lean jetting

lean enough to burn holes in your pants is there any way to cool it down? i am running a 168 main jet and stock pilot what ever that is a 38 i think.....

well exhaust pipes do get hot ya know..plus you live IN AZ with an air cooled quad that i'm sure runs hot. i doubt your jetting has much to do with it. its just a hot running motor.

mine gets hot like that 2. Dont be stupid like me and touch it though. I have a scar now and when i touched it my skin started to bubble and u could hear it sizzle.

We got that problem in PA too, my friend burnt his leg really bad last fall.:rolleyes:

You can uses Exhaut wrap. Don't look the best but it will help the exhaust flow better and makes it safer....

this isnt prolly right but just a stupid try. would what kinda oil your using make a differance? I run honda oil, and I never have any problems, I'm guessing if you get cheap oil the engine will run hotter(more friction) and metal transfers really easly, so the pipe gets really hot..?? just a try:confused2

You might want to send the header pipe to jethot for a coating. I just sent my powerbomb off to get coated. It was brownish in color from heat. The jetcoat coatings will withstand up to 1300 +/- degrees and makes the pipe run 20- 30 % or degrees (can't remember) cooler. It is costing 65.00 to have it done. It will never discolor again. A silver color. I cant take credit for the tip. Rico turned me on to them. By the way Thanks Rico.
They also can do a few colors. for a little more. ;)

My trinity stage 4 pipe is being cermic coated gold! it should look sweet. Or it may look like crap! I have to wait and see.
