I put a pair of elka front shocks on my 400ex and rode on them three times. when you compress the front it makes a horrible noise (like a squeaking/rubbing noise) on the rebound. does anyone know what this could be...elka does not seem to be answering my email (yet anyway).

Give all the bushings and bearings a shot of grease or some kind of lube to see if it stops. If it doesn't then there has to be something wrong with the shock.

should you have to grease right after installation? i would understand for maintenance but this soon?

call elka. That goes for everyone else. If you gotta problem phone them before anything. Cause if you post it on here its just gonna turn into "why elka sucks" and why pep or axis is the best bullsnit. Call them up and see if you can't hold the phone up to the shocks hahaha

probably just a tight fit at the arms and frame right now until you get some ride time on them..mine did the same...

MY SHOCKS DO THE SAME THING. IT IS THE COIL STOPS THAT ARE BETWEEN THE COILS. THEY ARE A TIGHT FIT AND WHEN YOU COMPRESS THE SHOCK THEY RATTLE IN AND OUT OF THE THREADS ON THE BODY OF THE SHOCK.

i would think for the amount they charge for the shocks they would be squeak free.
i'll give them a call and see what they say, that should be faster than waiting for an email response.

yea my peps sound horrible. They squeek when they compress and its very annoying but they perform amazing. i think its normal but thats my only complaint. they sound like sh*t

Yea there right it's most likely that unless yo had your shocks long enoughb the seals may be bad

It's the plastic sleeve that separates the top preload spring with the main spring. The sleeve is rubbing against the threads on the main body. It will go away.

It's the plastic sleeve that separates the top preload spring with the main spring. Funny that the rear shock doesnt use the plastic and or make that noise
