do you think a yzf250f is worth more than a 89 250r?

me and a member here derek honda are talking to each other and he thinks that with the trade of my quad a 88 275r to his 01 yz250f dirtbike i said he should include some cash but he said he doesnt think its worth it well we are asking you to see what you members think........

i think it is an awsome dealbut if you brough that r up to canada i bet you would fetch at least 10k :) because no body knows what they ride and don't fix it till it's broke :rolleyes: well anyway do whatever you like :D

They arnt that good. They are double the ccs of a 125... They are heavier. I think It should be a straight up trade no extra cash anywhere.

why would u want a 4 stroke dirtbike...? the only good ones seem to be the 450 and the 426... lmfao and they stick them in quad frames

that bike didnt look too mint and the fork guards were off, those forks are junk if there nicked it looked basically stock and ive seen them runnin around 3500 here, id say if your quad is in good shape with some mods its worth a lil more

I'd have to agree... that 250f looked pretty beat up. Well not beat up, but definitely used.

If your 250r has lots of extras and is mint, I'd say try to at least get a couple hundred with the 250f. If your 250r has just a few extras and isn't mint, then it would be a pretty fair straight up trade.

By the way, I saw an 02' Yz250f go for $3300 the other day. The 01's aren't as expensive as they used to be. You can get an 02' for $4k pretty easily now. If you do go through with it, make sure the motor is super tight. When modified, I have heard of quite a few 01's that grenaded because the connecting rod (i think) broke. They beefed em up in the 02's. Stock, they are pretty reliable, but I would be weary of a heavily modified 01' motor.

Just my 2 cents...

01 yz 250f is the hardest mx bike to start too they improved it for 02, id say if your r is basically stock in the same condition as his it would be a even trade but 250r holds value better

ok lil400ex man, that was kind of dickish. first of all, everything on the bike has been replace, (plastic, graphics, seatcover, bearings, brakes, chain and sprockets) Second of all, i have not taken it out riding since i removed the fork guards, so unless it can get nicked up leaning against my garage wall its fine. The forkseals do leak, if youll read my post, i clealy state that. And freeride, dont catogorize bikes, mine starts first kick, everytime, the only thing different is it has a decompression lever, which the newer 250fs do not, but mxdale informs me thats a relatively easy fix. and you all say this bike is too heavy for mx, its the only thing that wins in the 125 class around here, not to be rude, but have you ever been to an mx race?

i wouldnt let it go for anything under 3800 for sure. 250f's pull harder then any 125 and are alot easier to ride. i'd say straight up trade! havent seen pics of the R though :blah

a 250F will straight out smoke a 125 any day. some of these people say oh its a four stroke that means its slow. those 250Fs haul ***** they are just as good as any 2 stroke all the MX races ive been to the 250Fs usually make up all of the top 5

no your wrong, unless of course the motocross magazines are wrong, they stated that the 01 yz 250f was the hardest bike to start and that the new 02 was improved i read it in transworld mx, seeing the picture of the bike without the fork guards and u saying they leak would really make me wonder....i say even trade

the big difference is the R isn't ever going down in value, the yz's like most others go down in value everyday, and i have a 02 yz250f in great shape 3700 with some extra's, awesome bikes if you haven't ridden one you should, i've owned several cr-125's the 250f is faster and better handeling

for all you guys that say the 250fs are a pile of $hit your totally wrong here at the local mx races the 250f's are always pulling the holeshot and this up against moded 125's! the reson why people think they are so slow it's because they sound slow but once they get going then there not slow anymore
