What's the best machine to get a couple chainsaws, gas, oil and a toolbox into steep, rocky, thick woods for timberstand improvement work?

If your going side by side for work go john deere. Gator 825i or 855d. Bigger bed than any other SxS and still reliable and runs good
Plain jane old honda 4x4. Any of them really will do it. Id suggest putting a nice rack on the back and strapping stuff down.

if you're getting a side by side, don't get a honda, get a gator, rhino, or something of that sort.
If you're getting an atv i'd say the rancher or the recon would both be solid for this.

Honda 450R and a bigger rear rack. One or two items at a time, But you can haul balls to and from so time might equal out, But the fun would outweigh LOL.
If work related, Get a bobcat or Kubota SXS non hydro block and be done. They have great warranties as well, Good luck
