We are having problems getting old faithful started..shouldn't there be 12V to the coil? Any ideas why we aren't getting that?

Get jumper cables, bypass said solenoid and connect pos to post on starter and neg to a ground like the axle. If it fires right up there ya go.

I had a similar issue when I put back together my EX years ago, turns out there was a washer on the starter post that was making bad contact so I took it off and put the cables back on no issue.

Check your connections in your wiring. Coils normally don't just die. Wife's quad just died and had no spark. Replaced alot of electrical parts and when plugging up wires found a wire that was broke.

It ran just fine and started right up when I bought it and rode it.

I would think so. Sounds like a wire or connection.

Well fellas, we found the problem..we didn't see the connector because it was covered on the side covering of my CFM airbox. The piece that hides all of the wires and so forth. It was as simple as 1,2, 3. We plugged them up and she turned right over. I'm loving that 42 pilot jet. Thanks for the advice!
