Honestly the LED ones are prolly gunna be the best, they are expensive as f**k but will last forever and look awesome forever. I bought a set of smoked taillights for my ranger last year off ebay and they looked good but they use stock bulbs and don't really shock and wow you, just kind off a ho hum "oh those look cool" kinda look.

none just buy some 03-07 stock tail lights. I think everything else looks over done.

All of your choices remind me of those horrible altezza style junk the ricers like.

get some rubbing compound and buff your lights.

nothing beats the clean factory look of the 03-05 style silverado 3d tail lights

direct fit?

TCracin440ex
07-29-2013, 07:07 PM
all you need is the 03-06 silverado wire harness. everything else is direct fit. you can go to a junkyard and find the harnesses and only reason the need for the harness is because the 03-06 silverado have 4 lights instead of 3. brake light, signal light, reverse light and a corner flasher..

gmc kept the same style tail lights from 99-06. but its a very popular mod on the gm forums to run the chevy tail lights even in gm. they look good. its a nice stock fit too.

gee that's real nice....just because you don't like some of them doesn't mean they aren't cool to others....ricers, lol you're funny marc, great input btw!

I like 1 and 2 option or like the others said the 03 lights are a great look too. I too am not a fan of those stock chevy tail lights that you have.....even a buffing compound can't make them look good, lol.

I just dont want it to look rice

then that rules out options 2-4 IMO. love the first ones!

you could just nightshade your stock ones. or have a bodyshop tint them (buddy of mine does just that.. thins paint and sprays it, the finish looks like glass and you can go as dark or not dark as you want).

The 03 silvy up lights are nice. I always keep a extra set. I have OEM sierra tails in now that are smoked. Aftermarket lights don't fit worth a damn, look cheesy IMO. Oem smoked sierras

Night shades doesn't last worth a ****, looks good for a few months, then it fades out. Only way to do it is paint them with base/ clear. Tinted or reduced black, then a few coats of clear. Also I agree with CJM 100%

And when I had the silvys in, both look great when smoked. I do not have any pictures when I had a smoked set of 03 up silvys in there.

you think i crawled out a hole? lol. CJM i'm an active rider/racer. i don't live at my parents like you do homie. I don't talk smack online by belittling people. I love this sport and i love the people i meet when i'm out racing. I hardly crawled out of a hole.

Out of curiosity, how much do the lights dim when they have that tint on them? I know i've seen some vehicles on the road with so much tint on the tail light covers that i can barely see their lights at night. what percentage tint are you guys using?

I don't think nobody was belittling any one. Guy asked for opinions. This often gets mistrewed for people attacking some one when it isn't. Open forum, folks ask for opinions people, will post what they think, If they get upset it is on them they asked for the op's. The thing that does get me is when people start attacking people personally over this sheet. What does CJM or any one living at home have to do with anything HOMIE? That just makes others sound like corn balls.

thumpin you clearly missed the part where cjm told me to go back in my hole and that i can't control myself.

if you're going to say it gets you that people start attacking personally by saying he lives at home, why would you ignore the part where he said i can't control myself and that i should crawl in my hole.

he came off rude in his post, the guy posted pics of taillights that he liked, sure everybody has an opinion but to me it sounded rude...there's no reason you should quote my comment about him still living at home yet ignore his comment about me not being able to control myself and living in hole....this goes both ways.....now back to the subject of the thread.

anybody know how much the tint takes away from the light?

I didn't miss anything. Bottom line you are the one who popped off with the first BS personal comment over a question of opinion. He didn't call them rice or junk just posted he felt they looked that way, Nuff said.

As for tint, it is based on how you mix it, how many coats you apply to the lights. My lights are very well noticeable at night, even in the day.

But you cant control yourself. I never once said a bad word about the original poster, just that the altezza style lights look like ricer junk. You sir jumped into the mix and took it totally out of context. There are now 3 other posters seeing thru your bs...Or are they all on my payroll and against you?

I know this will fall on deaf ears, but its gotta be said. You seem to need that hug more now than before... :D

marc, please read my post.

never once did i say you were talking bad about the poster. i simply thought your response was rude, he posted several pictures of some options and isntead of giving which on you like best you said they are all horrible altezza style junk ricers lights. Now that's an opinion and it's your belief, i just figured there would be a nicer way to phrase it. So i quoted it and said it wasn't very nice and that other people might think those lights are cool.....you then came back with some lame response about me crawling back into my hole. Marc i don't care how many posts you have or how many 400ex riders you've helped with jetting...it doesn't give you the upper hand. we are all entitled to our opinions, mine is that i felt you should have been a little less rude. No need to jump on me.

please do not phrase your statements by making false claims that i accused you of saying a bad word about the original poster, that is not the case as you can see clearly. I jumped in, left it in context and said that just because you don't like any of the OP's options doesn't mean that others might like them.

If you're offering hugs, i'll take one!

looks real good, might attempt this. how many coats of the tint paint do you use? i know nite shades is typically 3 for blacked out, but i dont really want blacked out. and i dont wanna get pulled over

Hey thanks :D If you take your tails to a paint shop, tell them what your looking for. They should be able to do it for you no problem, should on;y cost about 40-60 bucks. Hard to give you a mix. Normally it is about 7 parts clear or reducer to 1 part paint. Do it in light even coats untill it is where you want it. Prep the lights the same way you would if you were going to paint a car. If ya don't have exp with a spray gun I would take them to the shop, because the cost in material can surpass the 50 mark fast.
