As some of you know ive been having carb issues. I was on craigslist today looking at banshees actually but somehow came across a set of lectron carbs for a 400ex. One was a 38mm and the other was a 39mm. They want $50 a piece for them, i dont know much about them are they alright carbs? Better than stock? Will it run better?

get them i have one on my trx250r. makes tuning a breeze. all that is necessary is changing the length of the metering rod to lean or richen.

Heres the ad. It actually doesnt say specifically for a 400ex. Will they make it run any better? Any increase in power?

Never even heard of these before. Are they a better upgrade than a 450R carb?

Lectrons are the excellent carbs.

If your gonna get a 38 or 39mm your better off buying a FCR carb from a 450.

If you want more performance then a FCR or a 38-39mm then get a 04-05 450r carb its a 42mm.

Lectrons arent extremely good on HP unless you start buying 40-45mm carbs, using the 38 or 39 is almost the same as using the FCR.

They are a very good upgrade to any stock carb regardless.

But if there $50 a piece you might be able to get double that over at www.sandslingers.com

Whats the deal with jetting these carbs what will i need to do? And what size carb does a stock 400 have in it? Should i buy these? And it doesnt specifically say for a 400ex will they fit?

to tune; you just have to turn the metering rod length to richen of lean. make longer for leaner and shorter for richer. also, for the top end tuning you get a powerjet depending on application.

Buy them both. You aren't going to find them that cheap again. Excellent carbs. No jets, very very simple, quick easy tuning, and they run as good as anything else if not better. They don't have accelerator pumps, but some have what they call a power jet, which is similar. If you get into these carbs, you'll not want to go back
