Hey guys, have a older mid to late 90's 440ex that i a old race bike. Looks to be built by jodie a JB racing with some motor work my Baldwin.
My question is that the bike use to sound deep and loud and now the "tickey" sound of the valve train seems to be very prominent.
Is my valve lash to much or is there another problem. It has a hot stage 2 cam in it i think and a 11.5 to 1 piston. I was going to look up the
stock valve lash but figured i'd throw this question out to see if since it's built should it be "looser" than mabey stock would be.
Thanks for any info!

Hotcams stage 2 is - .005 intake and .006 exhaust correct if I'm wrong someone and a hotcam will always make noise and 400's are air cooled motors so with the compression the big bore and cam your going to have noises no matter what you do

Hot cam will sound louder period.

Check timing chain, timing chain tensioner, guides for wear
