Perry has listed 16 miles of map trails, but the only state forest in ohio to ride off trail on UDT (user developed trails). Those trails mixed with map trails, mud, and wall climbs make for a full days ride.

Helmet, eye protection, state tag are required. 50" trail limit.

Maps of perry forest can be downloaded at the following link. *.gps maps are used with gps units. Udt maps list those trails in black. More UDT trails are listed as they are cleared.

*.kmz will open in google earth. All maps in the link above are available for public use. Made by perry forest apv area trail crew.

Perry is currently in process of purchasing more land for trail expansions. New unloading ramp available, and a new vault toilet to be built this year.

Any questions just ask. Perry is mostly unclaimed stip mine area. Lots of mud, hill climbs, and off-camber areas.

I have always thought about giving perry a try but with it only being marked at 16 miles i was always afraid i would make the drive and be disappointed. I do most of my trail riding at Wayne national forrest Hanging Rock and hatfield mccoy, so 16 miles seemed like it could be covered pretty quick (Hanging rock is 24 and we usually end up running in twice in a day). May make the trip one day next week since im off all week for the 4th and just give it a shot.

Many folks feel the same. Not much has been done to improve the area in the last 5 years or more. Its changing for the better now. Take a copy of the udt map if you have never been there. Map trails are marked with paint on trees. By the end of this riding year we should see marked trails, intersections, and known riding areas by name posted in the scramble area. State crews are filling some of the ignored holes with gabion stone. these areas will fill in with dirt and create a solid base.

the scramble area limit is maked with yellow paint on the trees and a border on the maps. You can ride the gravel forest road that borders the perry scramble area. It has to be on the berm and slow. This was just changed by the state and they will watch this very close. Im sure speed and donuts get a ticket quick.

i would be very interested in your thoughts as a first time rider at perry. Feel free to post them blacknblue#2

Thanks for the info, I am another one from Ohio who has not went to Perry yet because I thought there were not enough trails. I just went to Wayne Nat'l Forest last week and Perry is 15 min closer so next time I will check it out.

All trees and obsticles have been removed from the udt trails. Map trails are good to go, additional trails signs put up. Nice place to ride again.

the additional land purchase in the final stages. More riders there on the weekend and evenings as word spreads about the trails.
Great to see the young riders showing up!

Finally made my first trip to Perry State Forest and it was awesome! I had some expert hill climbers showing me around and wow there are a bunch of hill climbs from easy up to crazy tough that only a few go up. I was impressed and will definitely be back many times next year if not again this fall before it closes.

Thanks for the updates Resq.
