Theres a buell on craigslist in my area for $1500, it needs a paint job but looks fairly clean in the pics, said to run fine, ads been up for almosta month.

I called the guy today he said said it wont start since he put up the add and if I want it $500 as is, has fuel has spark.

I know I could possibly clean the carb add good gas and ride, but I just wish I knew it ran before.

What do you think?

Yay or nay? $500 2000 buell blast.

Hey could always go take a look at it.

SOmething tells me if it needs paint it was wrecked and the no start could just be a card or EFI issue-but could be worse.

A guy I work with is big into Harleys. went and bought 2 buells off the showroom when he found out production was coming to an end. Just from what ive heard him talking buell parts are worth Gold on ebay.

buells are crap, but hey, it's a harley. Is this a buell blast or a buell lightning?

Its just a blast, its a 2000 so I dont know if its efi I think its just carb'd.

The add is up for $1500 but said it recently stopped starting he thinks the battery is to low to crank it over.

Doesnt looked wrecked, it looks like some jerk off tryd to custom paint it....lol.

For $500 if I get it home and can clean it out and start it, I could paint strip it and rustoleum paint it for a few bucks and a days work and be ready to sell again for $1500 or just ride it.

Im gonna go look at it I guess?

yeah, i don't believe the blasts are fuel injected, so the efi is not something you will have to worry about.

The ad suggests that the bike was yellow then had this red spray paint added to it, The body parts I believe are mostly plastic so I think I can just acetone the paint off?

Hope for the best I guess...lol.

Went and checked it out yesterday, it was to sketchy to even think about buying.

The guy said it was his daily driver up until 2 months ago, I asked him if he ever took the carb apart he said no, but the whole entire accelerator pump assembly was gone.

The fuel was turned on and no gas came out the carb even tho it had a big hole in it, he said it had gas and spark but wasnt able to show it.

I had him try to crank it over and spray some gas in the carb and there was nothing but spiting the gas back out that we pored in.

The guy said ill take $500, while we were there he said ill take whatever you offer me at this point, we turned it down and walked away.

But hey all the lights worked....lol.

i think you made a good decision letting it go. taking it home for $300 wouldn't have been half bad though, lol. If it could run I'm betting you could selling it for a grand or more. Those blasts don't really hold up too well though. single cylinder little thumper made in america, lol.

is that belt really narrow or is it just me? maybe the blast runs a thing belt, but most of the bigger bikes, like my buddies buell lightening 1200 has a much fatter belt.

Its just the plastic was painted so it wouldnt be much for resale or would need lots of work to make look half decent, the rims were pitted as if it sat for awhile outdoors, carb reaked of really bad gas, needed whole new carb, he said the gasket blew and oil leaked everywhere once and smoked bad.....just better to walk away IMO.

I could spend 1700 now and get a buell like new with 3500 miles on it right here in my neighborhood if I was really froggy.

Might save a bit more and get a sportster.

You could definately make money parting it out. Highly doubt the carbs needed replaced. Ive been a mechanic for 10 years and Ive never had to replace a carb, aside from a completely screwed up pwc carb.
