Can modded 400ex's beat Raptors?

well since you only have a 440 kit, and its not stroked, then its hard to say. I have some of TCs finest internals in mine, and it will pull SLIGHTLY on a stock raptor. But if the craptor has any mods, i dont have a chance. But my old mans 465 would eat one no doubt. It will keep right with a 310R

i think what he is talkin about is that he only has his bored .60 over, which that will not give u 440cc's it will probly only give u a few more cc's over stock, what you do to find out the cc's is bore * bore * stroke * .0007854

no, to go to a 440, you need to resleave. your 400 is a 412 or so. how big of a piston do you have, I know a 440 piston is 89mm in case you didn't know here is the formula to figure out cc's raduis(half diameter) squared x 3.14 x stroke x .001
so for your 400 to be a 445 you need to have a piston that is 90mm, that is HUGE. with that big of a piston, your rod will wear quickly and say good by to your cluth basket. I know that 40 over is a 406 and 80 over is a 416.

At the drag races last year the fastest quad was a built LT500..

The second fastest quad was his brothers built 440 (sparks I believe).. nothing to wild just a piston / cam / exhaust..

Don't know the length of the track but I was just hitting 5th at the lights w/ a 14 tooth sprocket + 20 in. tires. The surface was a mix of walsonite and clay (fairground horse track).

He was easily beating stock raptors / shee's, beating the modded shee's and raptors also (although not quite so easily).

The 2-strokes were having a tough time hooking up on the clay.. (except the LT500 that thing was just SICK)..

It could have been rider ability (he had killer reaction times).. I had the misfortune of racing him in the second heat and getting spanked :)

a stock 400ex will beat a craptor anywhere it matters, meaning not on the drag strip cause honda isnt building a quad that is meant to drive in a streight line.

i was talkin bout straight line paved drags. if the drag is a long one the craptor will win cause the 16/18 gearing.

could a 416ex with a cam/pipe/filter/jet kit have more POWER than a raptor?

ur 416 is prolly makin around stock raptor hp. but ur power to weight ratio is alot better than the raptors. do u have porting too??

A 465 curtis sparks stroker running 39mm alky carbs will do the trick.. Will beat a raptor on start off as well as on mid and top end. ..

since you were runnin a 440.. the raptor will get it.. sorry to say.

In drag races at the dunes my 440ex with beat stock and piped raptors all day long one after the other. The ones with some $ put in them are close races but I dont really care its all fun.:D I did get my but kick when I raced a 770 raptor one day at Coos Bay:o but so was every one else.:cool: If I have to much trouble I will go get my R:macho :cool:
