Just wondering if anyone is running a 450r axle on their 250r? Im pretty sure my laeger hybrid has one now. Im looking to replace it. I counted 24 splines (recounted about 5 times to be sure lol). Just wondering what all is needed as far as running a 450r axle on a 250r? Just incase I go to order one, and it doesnt work.

could be a 400ex axle also, those are direct swaps, only thing different is the brake hub axle nut

Any idea how to tell the difference between a 250r and 400ex axle nut?

When you do the change over from a 250R axle to the 400EX axle, the wheel hubs need to be changed, because the 250R hubs have a different spline & wont go onto the 400EX axle.
You'll also need about an 1/8" thick shim washer, between the sprocket hub & the carrier bearing so to aline the rear sprocket up with the front sprocket.
Those axle hub nuts on the end look to be the same, so not much there to tell the difference from one or the other.
Wheel hubs on the 250X, 300EX, 400EX & 450R are a deep set type of hubs, where as the 250R is just about flat where the wheels bolt on.

450R axle uses a different carrier than a 250R, wider I believe it is, so there may need to be some type of spacing to make the 450R axle work in the 250R carrier.
