Im currently building a 04 450r from the ground up and I'm going through the carb soon. I'm wondering what would be a good jet needle/needle jet to run in the stock carb. I've ran a sparks in the past and had good luck. I'm building this motor with a hot rods crank, HC2, 11.5:1 piston and full exhaust, nothing crazy. if you can post part numbers or where to get them that would be great. Thanks!

HRC needle would be pretty good, Id also say the sparks needle would be worth it-but you never know with sparks-could just be an HRC needle anyways.

Sparks is an outstanding company, one of the best as far as performance parts for these motors. The sparks needle is not the HRC needle, they are similar but not the same. I would get the HRC jet kit, they are definitely over priced, because you can only get the needle from buying the kit. The best value I've found is the phoenix jet kit on ebay. It's essentially the same as the HRC kit, it has the HRC needle, but it comes with more main jets and is only about $5 more than the HRC kit which only comes with 1 main jet.

The HRC needle part is C51b and here is the kit on ebay.

Paul @ Woodward Specialties (site sponsor on many sites) has them also

Woodward is not a sponsor on this site, and $43 shipped for an hrc kit that only has 1 main jet and 1 needle is pricey. You can get the phoenix one on ebay that comes with 5 different size main jets, a pilot jet, and the needle for $45. No offense to woodward or anything, but considering a main jet costs $3 at the dealer, that means he's selling the hrc needle for $40....quite expensive if you ask me.

Right. WOuldnt be the first time sparks sold something with strangely no markings that matched up exactly to someone elses stuff.

You are correct about that. The sparks aggressive drop in cam is identical to the 02 crf cam. A great cam i must say! I do know that the needles are not the same though.

lol anything to argue marc..

for the record, Woodward is selling the kit for 32$ not 45$

easy killer.

i said $43 shipped. It's $32.95 plus $10 shipping (which is outrageous considering the size of the package, lol)...... As opposed to $45 shipped for the phoenix which comes with 4 more jets that help with fine tuning.

Please read what i wrote and you will see that I am correct with my pricing. You cannot get the woodward hrc jet kit for 04/05 trx450 to your door for $32, that's incorrect. I priced out the hrc kits several times and it's nearly impossible to find JUST the hrc needle so the kit is really the only option.

I'd rather buy from a contributing site sponsor but that's me.

again, woodward is not a site sponsor to this site. You're throwing out businesses that aren't sponsors, is that fair to the actual site sponsors of this site? I'm not trying to make things wrong or right sweet cheeks. I'm just letting the OP know the routes he can go. You can buy from woodward sure, but it'll be $43 shipped to his door, or he can spend $2 more and get 4 more jets. It's up to him, and is not worth arguing about. What was your intention with your sly remark about meeting up on the org? Trying to breed drama? Please, let's not go there, let's keep it down to the subject of this thread. You corrected me by saying it was $32, it's actually $32.95 and with $10 shipping. Not here to argue, but since you corrected me i wanted to be clear that you read my post properly, which you did not. Are we clear chronic?

Whatever RyRy, Ebay isn't a sponsor either. I'd rather support Paul than an eBay store, Paul contributes back to the community.

Anyway I'd rather continue this conversation on the org.. Care to join me? :)... Oh wait. you're banned again for the 15-16th time? Maybe you need another hobby, lol.

Yep I can edit too!
