hey guys im curious if you guys could help me out a little. i want to make my bike a good woods bike and id like to know what the absolute necessity's are.
as of right now the bike sits mostly stock minus the following. it has nerf bars, 1 1/8 pro taper bars, bumper, grab bar and an hmf competition slip on.as it sits now it has a set of holeshot mxr6 20x7x10 in the front and 18x10x9 in the rear the wheels are itp t-9 baja with the strength rings. i need to know the best tires, among the other musts for woods riding. this is my first 450r and id like you guys' experience on this bike to help me get the right stuff for it. here's a few pictures of it as it sits. 171810342117181034221718103423 thanks for your help.

Holeshots, razrs, XC masters, etc. You want a plush suspension so you can absorb the bad bumps and a stabilizer to absorb hits.

XC racing isnt about speed, its about endurance and suspension.

Anything is bound to break. On my 05 personally, I have had a stator and CDI fail on me. Everything else that has broke was error on my own part.

To set it up for XC, the first and foremost thing I would get before anything is a Precision steering stabilizer. Then I would look into getting my suspension set up. You would be just fine getting your front and rear shocks reserviced and revalved and get an XC rear linkage to lower the rear end and rid the bucking. Fasst Flexx bars are a good addition to the bike. I don't think an anti-vibe stem really does anything unless you want an extended one if you are a taller rider and prefer them. For tires, I am running the Kenda Klaw II's 21in fronts and 20in backs. Make sure you run 4:1 front rims as well. It helps keep the front end smaller.
