View Full Version : Well, I had my first race ever......at Budds Creek this weekend

We took off around 5:30 Sunday morning got there around 8:30, stopped to eat and stuff on the way. Signed all in by 9 or so. Then the butterflies started hitting. Practice started around 10, found out what that place was all about. I think my heat was around 1....I cant remember, All I know is that our heat was 3rd till the last. As soon as that gate drops, all of the butterflies are gone!!! I actually...(according to my wife) lol pulled 2nd off of the line. But when you have 25 other quads going for the same turn, chances are you arent going to be holding that position for long. LMAO. I then dropped to around 6th place, with a quickness. Probably before the end of the first lap, I was passed by two other quads. The small pack of 8 I was in supposedely left the(other 18 quads) rest of the field. All I know is, I saw noone near the rear of my quad. One thing I can say for sure is, thats about the biggest rush I have ever had. I was worried about being able to hold on for that long, but I was actually disappointed to see the checkered flag. Whicg in turn means, I probably didnt ride as hard as I could have. But it was my first race ever, it was all used as a learning experience. And I did finish in the top ten, so I was really happy. There was another heat late in the day, but it was rainy, nasty, and slick as a cats aS$ :huh . So I decided to sit that one out. It wasnt worth risking my quad or getting hurt. I can't wait till April 6th now, I am ready to race every weekend...lol I did meet a EXrider there also...Delaware152, he is a new member here. Very nice guy, also very,very helpfull. He rides the heL! out of a quad too....Did anyone else ride in your class Delaware152??...LMAO He was smokin'!!

Thats pretty high standards....lol. But the next race is on a track that I have ridden a few times, so that plays to my advantage, unlike Budds Creek, I have never even been to that place.

Yea, I want to go to at least one race this year. Thats my goal. Its just everything is so far.

How tired were you when you were done. It was MX, right?

Yea, Doibugu2, it was MX. I surprisingly wasnt that tired. But take into consideration that I didn't run my last heat. But as far as being tired the first heat, I wasn't really. I was ready to keep going. I looked up and saw the checkered flag and was surprised. I dont think time was a factor yesterday. I had so much adrenaline pumping, I dont think I could of gotten tired if I tried. Well, I am exageratting a little there but...lol Budds Creek is more open then tracks I am used to though. We usually ride tighter, more technical tracks. They seem to wear me out faster. Doibugu2 come on over to Delaware...lol We can hit some tracks :D

YLW400 Did they even get to race the 2nd moto. I knew it was
going to be muddy or dark so I went home. I may go to Easton
this Sat. if it doesn't rain. Maybe I'll see you there.

Ridered- The new front end did awesome, I couldnt have imagined riding there on stock arms and axle. Some of the off camber turns are sick....one in particular sticks out..lol lets just say there was a body of water below it..:D Dont get me wrong though, there were guys with stock width quads alot faster than I was.

Delaware152- Are you sure Easton is open??? I thought your dad said there is a MAMA race there this weekend, or did he mean next weekend? They did run the next heat, it was raining pretty steadily in the end. Alot of guys with no goggles on. I just dont think it was worth chancing. Plus, I didnt feel like getting soaked...lol If Easton is open, maybe I can meet you over there. Maybe I will call to confirm if they are open.

12gofast- I guess the first D-7 race is July13th? I am going to hit all of the D-7 races I can this year....I think...lol. It is too addicting already. I am ready to go now...lol

Mike400EX- Thanks alot man!! Yea, we are moved in down south there on "Paradise"...lol Are you bringing your quad? If you are maybe we can go meet Delaware152 over to Easton if you have the time.
