I am in the market for buying a pair of nice handguards. I think i am gonna get some acerbis. But the question is what style of acerbis to get? do they make them to fit the 400ex or do you have ot get a special mounting kit or even a universal pair? I really dont wanna pay a lot for these. thanks

Do they make handguards for the 400ex that connect to the side of the bars ??? Like on dirtbikes where the guars are like an L shaped.

i was wonderin the same thing. i have a cr clutch perch and lever, and was lookin into gettin some handguards. i dont want the ones that go thru the end of the bars. just the ones that mount up to the perches. i was told bt someone that said they think that a guards from a cr bike would fit. is this true?

Does anyone use Tusk Off-road d-flex hand guards. They are in the new Rocky Mountain ATV catalog and are only $50.

I have Moose handguards like 250x#93. They work well, but Acerbis with the metal in them look a lot cooler, But they are as big so they miss more mud.

I was all geared up to get hand guards until I talked with Casey at Hetricks. They had a rider with hand guard with the metal brace that bolted to the end of the bars. This rider cased a jump and went over the bars, his arms went between the bars and guards. He broke both arms! So for mx any way I would not run them. I can see in xc they would be great.

that is only if you have wrap arounds...u can get ones like mine that only come off the cluth and brake master cyclinder that r flinsy but the do there job!

The ones that attach to the ends of the bars and wrap around and clamp to the bar are listed as motorcycle only in rocky mountain. Will these fit the Renthal bar 400 ex bend The ones like the acerbis and one style of the maier plastics ones?
Toby what bar do you have those acerbis mounted to?

The ones that mount to the perchs i think only mount to a stock clutch perch. Am i right. ?

250rmike
03-22-2003, 03:11 AM
yes they will fit but u might have to end the metal alittle bit to get them around the levers. rocky mountain also says renthal fatbars are only for dirt bikes. ill talk to my dad and get hold of u lou

im ordering the metal maier ones that go across... i dont care about the mud... i wear gloves so.. but i dont wanna break my nuckles if i hit a tree

so, if u order ones that only mount on the perches, and using a regular perch, not a stock perch, then order a set for a CR? i really would like to get a set, but i dont wanna order the wrong ones.
