Just went and picked up a spark plug for 2007 400ex normally they give me a ngk dpr8z, this time she gave me a dr8es, they look about the same and i went ahead and put the dr8es in and it fired right up. My question is whats the difference between dr8es and dpr8z? And should i be looking forward to having issues with this plug?

NGK DR8ES or ND X27ESR-U TRX400 EX - Standard..................NGK DPR8Z or ND X24GPR-U Extended High Speed riding.



I love the Splitfire 416 plug for the 400EX...get a chance pick one up, good burn and last forever.

Ok cool, i ride trails only no high speed for long periods of time just on and off throttle alot with all the trees and turning.

i always use ngk dpr9z. our 300ex uses dr8es

Owners manual stats that the DPR8Z is for normal riding, DPR9Z is a colder plug for extended high speed riding. Not starting a fight or anything but something is mixed up here.

Thanks dragonGunner. Looks like only difference is tire sizes lol i would of never known that.

So according to that chart the DR8ES-L fits a TON of things, including a '94-'97 400ex, that doesn't exist. LOL

Now thats funny. I put it in my 2007 and runs like a champ
