strange issues....

Hey fellas today I bought a 1985 kawi bayou 185 picked up real cheap and mint shape.. its starts first pull and idles great takes throttle good up to about 1/2 and after that it boggs and sputters...its got a fresh engine rebuild and plug. I cleaned the carb it dosent have a filter at the moment (on thee way),timming should be fine, seems like it has no power aswell. But get this when you ride it down a hill it runs like a bat outa hell :ermm: ive tried holding my hand over the carb with my fingers gaped a little to act as a filter but it doesnt help much if any???

I'm not familiar with that exact model, but if it has mechanical timing advance, something might be worn. I will pull off the left case cover and have a look at the parts underneath the flywheel

Obviously not having a filter could be an issue as well

Try it after you get the filter and see how it reacts. It sounds like it is leaning out after 1/2 throttle.

I fixed it droped the needle one clip and make a lil make shift filter until the one gets here runs good
