a neighbor kid beought his '07 400 over because of no rear brakes. it has fluid leaking out of the parking brake side. what would cause a blown caliper. he doesn't race and rides no harder than any other kid.

Theres a seal in there, you could take apart the caliper and try replacing it. I tried and it still leaked so I just got a new one on ebay for like 75 bucks.

Or could do what I do and not use them my rear caliper seized up on a riding trip and didn't have back brakes all weekend of riding then after that I just got used to never using them but it is a lot easier to just buy another caliper

There's a seal in there and then a small o-ring on the parking brake side also. Try replacing both and see if that fixes it, otherwise just buy used like others have said.
