What to do..

I noticed a bolt was loose on my valve cover. Tried to tighten it and the threads are gone. How should I fix it?

Tap it to the next larger standard size

Tap to next size, helicoil, time sert, etc.

Is it one of the ones that goes all the way thru or a shorter one?

Front right screw on the valve cover. Pretty sure it's the longest one...

Personally Id tap it to 1/4" if possible b/c thats the very next size up after 6mm. Gonna have to take it apart tho. If it doesnt leak and the rest of the bolts are right you may just wanna leave it alone for now.

I got it stripped down to the head. I'm gonna tap it tomorrow and see..

yea id try tapping to 1/4" first, that dont work helicoil time. Might be hard to find that size bolt in 1/4 tho fyi.

Had the same thing happen on mine and I had the local shop drill it out and install a time-sert. Kind of expensive but I haven't had an issue with it since.

I can tap or time sert it fine but sheeeiiiitttt...
