Get the rubberized Cometic gasket

Since ur putting in a new head gasket if you don't already have them get gtthunder head studs also I have a 426 with same compression and it's still running strong

GTT will do it for $100, that includes the studs.

Aye I just picked up a nasty 426 from a member on here and he didn't have the gt thunder studs so I just ordered some and the cometic gasksets. I'm all set now :D thanks bruh!

What about shipping cost?

You'll need to pay for shipping either way... It wouldn't be much at all sending it out.

I'm guessing you would have to ship your whole head and cylinder. I'm also guessing that ups is the way to go because it'll weigh a lot. Probably total will be $150.

If my shop says that if they can put stock studs back in and they will cover it with a warranty for awhile, I'll do it I think. So if this happens again, the shop will have to fix it anyway.

You'd only need to send them your cylinder, the head doesn't need modified. Surely someone on here could give you an estimate from when they sent theirs in.

Any local machine shop can install the studs just buy the gtthunder studs and take the directions and cylinder to them that's what I had done

I am in Ohio so I am close but it cost me about $35 to ship my cylinder, front shocks, and rear shock to GTT (and I think they charged $50 to ship it back). Like Stickman said you only need to send the cylinder so it is not real heavy and remember I also had my shocks included.

DO NOT have you local shop put stock studs back in! If you do know you are taking serious risk that it will happen again. Personally I wouldn't be as concerned if they had to fix it under warranty if it happened again as I would be concerned with possibly being stranded or the down time and missed riding time if/when it happens again. Also, a shop that may give a warranty for the stock studs tells me they may not understand these 400EX motors very well.

Yeah i guess i can have my shop install them gtthunder studs. I just don't want to ship my cylinder away and it taking awhile to get back to me.

I need to find more cooling methods next for the 400.
