I was doing routine maintenance on our 2 300ex quads and decided to check compression, one was at 95 and the other at 85 psi. The spec states 185 +/- 14 psi. Both quads run great and start easily. Any ideas on where I might start before putting new top ends? We run the sand dunes in OK a few times a year, would that cause them to need new top ends quicker?

I'm gonna say yes on dunes making you have to re-ring bore etc. more often then just regular dirt trail riding. Also if u run a dirty, dry k&n filter it will make it go through topends faster. As for where to start about putting new topends it prolly just needs to be re-ringed. Unless you have done small engine work before I would take it to the shop. JMO
