just picked up some oil from my buddy yesterday.

I usually run the AMSOIL Synthetic 10w-40, but he gave me 0w-40. On the back of the bottle it says it "does replace 10w-40," but im still a little nervous to run it without input.

Thanks.

Well if your like most of us and change your oil every let's say 5 hours of riding then I don't see how it would hurt it

I run full synthetic in the KTM Hybrid I have...20W-50....Didn't even know they made 0w....wow that seems kinda thin. I change mine about every 15 hrs of hard racing, 25 hrs of any other kind. The 406EX gets 10w-40 non synthetic and gets changed about every 30 hrs or so for the last 13 yrs......guess I'm not in with the norm....?

It wont hurt, But would be my last choice this time of year. Save it until you change for winter, That way it wont harm anything and could help on start-up. But many cars and trucks run it, Tight tolerances need thin oil to lubricate. Some Toyota's run 0w-20 oil year around, To me that's scary but you cant run thicker or it will fail.

I’ve been running Valvoline 10w30 in my built motor for over 5 years with absolutely no issues at all.

It will not hurt a thing. The 10w all it stands for is the weather you can use it in and the 40 is the weight or thickness of the oil. I run 10w-40 in summer and 0w-40 in winter
