Does anybody know if somebody is making frame guards for the 400 where your boots rub on the sides. I have seen pictures of maiers but I think they no longer make them. If anybody has some they want to sell let me know.

If you were to take some AL foil and wrap the frame there, then smear it with vaseline and put some fiberglass over it you got frame guards.

Thanks I seen where somebody on here had done that. And it turned out pretty good. I am starting to wonder if dirt would get behind them and vibrations would just cause them to rub anyways. I mite just use some grip tape and trim it to fit the tube that way no scuffing and I can replace it often.

Yea, I wonder too if dirt would get in between a rub. Maybe some weather strip tape to cushion and prevent dirt but IDK.

Fiberglass method with some weather stripping or closed cell foam behind it.

I wouldn't buy DG personally.. I have no doubt they could screw up frame guards..

Damn Mark! I'd never thought of that.. now I'm going to make some up myself!

They use masking tape and melt candle wax on top of it for speaker boxes, then apply the fiberglass right over that and it will peel off of the masking tape. Padded two way tape on the inside so it doesn't rub but I don't even think it'll be necessary..

I'm gonna have to go and get some more fiberglass cloth after work :D

Aluminum foil will scratch the hell out of it, sure it might act as a guard, but you'll end up with more scratches than you have from boots.

I'd use some type of grip tape as you mentioned or some sticky padding stuff if you're set on the cheap way.

If not, they do make nice guards for both sides, one protects the master cylinder on the brake side as well

You just use the foil to keep the glass from sticking while its hardening up. Then after it sets you peel it off. I checked out your link those look pretty good I just don't know. We have a place in town that sprays herculiner not the cheap roll on but the good stuff that actually sticks. But dang I would have to almost strip it to a frame to avoid over spray.
