So we're going to be doing mostly Hare Scrambles this year and I need a skid plate.

The only one I've found online is the XFR. Has anyone here used it? Thoughts?

Are there any other options available for the DRR?

we have xfr on both machines they are tough enough although i run poly on my 450s seem to slide better on rocks

we use the apex chain ring guard
and also made a protector for tensioner

and made a rear disc guard out of 1/4 " angle iron and welded directly to swinger

youll need a guard for line to rear caliper at the caliper as well , it can get hit real easy

Five years in GNCC's on two DRR's

XFR on both with Apex Sprocket Guard, No Rotor Guard or Tensioner Guard

Never a problem

I'm having trouble with the skid plate install! I'm going to call the dealer as soon as they open, but has anyone else seen this issue? I have XFR nerf bars and the XFR skid plate. There is a cut-out on the skid plate for the U-bolts that hold on the Nerf Bars. As you can see in the picture the cut out is about 2" away from where the U-bolt mounts. Thought?

Is it possible I have the APEX nerf bars on my DRR?

HELP!

I weld mounts for nerfs into frame
Quicker for maintenance

That's cool. It's only 4 bolts to remove each side so I'm not sure how welding mounts would make it much easier. I guess I'd have to see a picture.

So, I drove all the way back down to the dealer. We compared the brand new XFR Nerf bars on his shelf to the ones mounted on my quad and they were the exact same. His sugestions were to either cut new slots in the skid plate or to try and bend the nerf bars to fit the slots that are already in the skid plate. Neither option sounds good to me. They're both XFR products and should not need modification to make them work together. I gave XFR a call and left a message. We'll see what they say.

I guess we'll run without a skid plate tomorrow. Hopefully we don't bash the frame up. It's a woods race, but I don't think it's a very rocky course so hopefully it won't be an issue.

If you were to take the rear mounts and swap them side for side it should essentially move the nerf back and maybe that would work. We did this to give my son more room to slide to the rear to improve weight transfer but we didn't have a skid plate. Not sure how tall your child is so foot position may come into play. Let us know if you try this out.

Thanks Chris. I thought of trying that, but it would move the pegs back about 4" and put them in an awkward position and it would still not match up to the skid plate.

we only have 2 bolts per side and dont have to try to align the crappy ubolt everytime its off
are plate is spaced of the frame alittle less than a 1/4'' so the mud that accumalates can easily be washed away
just knotch the skid where ubolt come in contact on side

To follow up. I called XFR. He told me to mark the skid plate where the cut-out needs to be and then ship the skid plate to him. He said he'd measure it and cut a brand new plate for me with the cut outs in the correct position for free. I thought that was pretty awesome. He couldn't explain why there would be a 2 inch difference, but he happily agreed to make it right.

I believe as someone stated, if you reverse the peg mounts I will align everything. It is pretty important to get that peg position correct for ballance of the machine in the air. Start looking at other machines to see how they have theirs...Call Justin at MaxRPM and ask him, he's very knowledgeable with the Apex...

Thanks, but If I were to reverse the foot peg mount it would move the mount and footpegs about 4" towards the rear and it would be even further out of alignment. When I spoke with XFR they confirmed that I had them mounted in the correct position.
