Where is the best place to get a port and polish job in california where we aren't going to have to wait 6 months to send it in? Have any of you guys ever used harley shops to get this done or do you guys recomend engine builders?

CT is also in cali. You should give them both a call and ask them how busy they are.

Try xr's only I think i am going to send my head in for a port and polish there. They also have a web site www.xrsonly.com. The link is also on the link portion of this site. While you have it in there you can get the large head fin kit :blah There price for port and polish with three angle valve 275.00 About 2 weeks out. I posted a couple days ago to see if anyone has used them. Look back 1-2 days on the post and see the reviews.

That sounds pretty good. Did you ask if they used a flow bench or not?

I just had my motor work done by Trinity. I was a little aprehensive about them in the beginning, but im more than elated after its all done. They were easy to deal with, for such a busy place the turn around time was actually pretty decent. Even though they are a big seller in the Banshee world, they never treated my any different due to me just having minor port work done on a four stroke. I had the Pro port and valve job done. Excellent results.

how much did it end up costing you and do you think it was worth it?

$299.00, very much worth it, it really complimented the bigger carb and new exhaust. If you put on the bigger carb on you really wont get the full benefit of it until you do the port. The 400ex stock is already overcarbed. It makes no sense to put the bigger carb on a stock engine, dumping more fuel into the motor, when the head isnt designed to flow it.
My bike runs perfectly. A tad drop in the low end but from mid to top it really takes off.

I agree with all that you said except for the not using a bigger carb on a stock engine. I don't know if you have ever tried it but i was beating my friends quad with the exact same mods and I was easily beating him by 6 lengths by the time we hit our top speed. I would say that that makes sense to me.

I think powroll is in the link section of this site. Trinity was 4-6 weeks out. To far out for me. I think I am going through ex's only.

Have you checked on shipping yet? I'm curious about how much it is going to be there and back.
