I'm thinking about stroking my 400ex since I have to do a rebuild but I can't find anything about how reliable they are. Can anybody who has stroked their 400ex chime in? Thinking about doing some XC but mostly just trail riding.

Thinking about the gtthunder basic 450 Stroker kit
Four stroke tech extra oil cooler
Spal Fan on stock oil cooler
Ported Polished Big valve head with all kibblewhite

This is my current mod list
Full HMF Exhaust
450r carb
aluminum air box w/ pro design filter kit
Oversized oil tank
Air scoops

I race xc and I have. 426 with 11:1 comp and that's more then enough for xc racing but I've heard nothing but good of the gtthunder 450 kit seems like tons of power for the mods you will have done

Thanks for the reply. I'm trying to decide between a 11/1 426 or going all out and doing the stroker. I'm leaning towards the 426 so I know it'll be reliable but like the idea of knowing that if I do a 450 kit it's like having a new engine but I don't know how reliable a 450 would be. FST suggested their 460 big bore kit.

426 with 11:1 is a great build but I love the sound of a 450 stroker.. think it would be a total bad *****

I'm thinking the 450 would be bad @$$ too and I'm thinking that with the spal fan on the stock oil cooler, the extra FST oil cooler, oversized oil tank, and air scoops would make it reliable but I'm still waiting for someone with the kit to chime in.

Gtthunder makes great products I'd go with the 450 kit but the 426 is great when I did mine I put all new bearings an crank so it was a new motor basically

Been trying to find details about the 450 GT Thunder kit but couldn't find any info. Sounds like a good kit but what is the stroke and piston diameter they use for the kit.

I'm pretty sure the rod is +7mm and bore to a 416 and usa a custom JE piston
