Alright I blew another head gasket, second one in roughly 8 months. I have a 440 big bore with stage 2 hot cam 39mm flat slide carb. I run 110 octane fuel, think maybe that has something to do with it? When I was running 93 octane the valves would tick. What would be the best gasket to run? Thanks for any support!!

Your fuel is ok.....you may have a warped head, get a manual and take head off and check to see if it needs plained. Your stock studs may of had it also....buy some GT Thunder HD studs or have them put them in for ya....problem solved.

Heavy duty head studs? If not thats an issue. Also could be jetting b/c if the exhaust gets to hot those studs can pull out.

Yea I planed on changing those studs, I have been doing a little research to see other guys reviews about the studs. What is a better head gasket to get? Thanks for the help

Cometic is an awesome head gasket, it cuts the compression down slightly as its thicker but its a much better gasket. You want the kind called MLS multi-layered steel, it looks kinda like a black rubbery covered gasket. Cometic does make crappy fiber oens too, you dont want that.

The one in there now is a cometic, it was MLS but no rubbery compound
