Narrowed my choices down to these two, mostly trail ride but plan to race a couple GNCC, Snowshoe being one, which skid plate would work the best?

If you're talking about the GTT rotor guard, I would choose that over a conventional skid any day.

The GT Thunder skid is steel, PRM is aluminum. The GT skid will also give much more ground clearance. If your racing Snowshoe get the GT Thunder skid

Which skid plate, swingarm, chassis?

I have the PRM chassis plate, .25 thick and very beefy. I dont think you can damage it all that easy. it slides nicely too.

I also run the GTT steel swingarm skid for the GTT XC link. It bends slightly on the area in front of the sprocket/rotor (its flat metal there) but hasnt deformed at all on the rotor or sprocket guard. But its only useful if you have the link.

i dunno about the belly skid (i run another brand), but the swing arm skid is rock solid. well at least in construction and material wise. i just got one in last monday. its definitely beefy! welds look like crap(cosmetically) but they look lik they should hold up.

now the sprocket guard, like dustin said, is awesome. but there are two problems, 1) if your suspension is set up right with the correct link, you'll have to bend your subframe to clear the guard and your sprocket/chain, and 2) you'll have to run some kind of rotor guard for your brake rotor.

also, i wont be running the sprocket guard with the skid. the sprocket guard comes in contact with the skid's built in sprocket guard. so for the time being, im just gonna keep it for back up

ben300 are you running the GTthunder XC link?

I know its not one of your choices, but I'm running the Armadillo .250 thick aluminium swingarm skid on mine. Best money I've ever spent! No ground clearance issues, and its one of the thickest skids on the market so it will take a beating and keep on going.

edit: sorry, accidental double post, please delete!

yes i am, but i currently dont have it on my quad. im going form the stock to the gtt xc link. i sent my rear to gregs atv to be redone. so once it's back ill mount it up.

from all the measurements that i have taken, ill only need to bend my subframe about 1/4".....and i may not need to lift my airbox at all

Ive got the XC link on my 400. I bent the subframe using a small bottle jack.

The skid worked well, I got some buttonhead grade 8 bolts for it so nothing catches.

marc, when you bent your subframe, did you bend both sides? or just the battery side? from what i can tell, all im going to need to do is space my exhaust out about 3/8-1/2" and the battery side frome rail about 1/4"....and i may not need to lift the air box yet...time will tell

What I did was just bend the battery side by putting the bottle jack in the subframe.

I didnt raise the airbox and havent hit it yet. The exhaust I spaced out by going to lowes and buying a spacer in the bolt section for like 2 bucks. Works very good.

Just curious but what do you mean bend the subframe and move the aifbox up? Is it just with this suspension? Where does the air box hit? I'll be using an elka link with long travel rear shock and +2 houser swingarm with +2 wide axle so will I have to worry about this problem?

No idea about the elka link. What happens is since the suspension has more travel the sprocket can hit the subframe as well as the brake caliper hitting the exhaust.
