I feel like I have much more control over the power when im using a thumb throttle.

I never really got used to twist though but I almost killed myself when I was riding my friends dirtbike because of the twist throttle.

Yea I couldnt do crap w/ my twist!!! I hit this ditch and gunned it and held the throttle open and it took off threw the brush and I was takin out trees and crap, it was really scary, but just a wee bit funny.:confused2 It sucked balls!!!!!!!! But then I had to spend like $130 for a moose racing thumb throttle because I couldnt get a stock one, ans man, this is the beastiest thing that you'll ever see!!!!!:blah

I have a twist throttle on my R and a thumb throttle on the Ex. I think you must be on the ball and carefull when you have the twist on. I don't think that there is much of a advantage with a twist besides your thumb doesn't start to hurt during rides. As long as you ride with your elbows up alittle, it helps keep the throttle under control. If you think its hard to ride with a twist on a 400ex try it on a 250r big bore with a big bore kit.:D

I prefer twist because I rode dirtbikes for so many years. Well, I had the thumb for a little while and when I switched to twist, I was like, OMG I see what they are talking about. But I got used to it really really quick, and now I like it better. Everyone watches me ride and think I am really agressive because my arms are in a race like position and I am standing a lot, but I keep up thats all that matters right?

I HATE twist i was ridingt a banshee and i grabbed it in a bumb and it wheelied i got dumped off the back and i reached my hand back to catch myself and i landed way to hard and end up breaking both the bones in m right wrist and dislocating is in the exact same place it was pretty ugly cuz i could move the bones by themself it took about a month and a half to 2 months to heal:( :grr
