It worked!!!!! Starting was easier than using CR250 2001 digital ignition, rpm's were better on idling. and the power was very smooth. I was very happy to see that it work great. Only tested for about 30 minutes at home because their is no where to ride near my house. I was running a ESR 350 Power value on Race Gas... I took it out of this quad and it will be going into an ESR 400 Power Value on a new build I am working on. I only thing I had to do was to grind down an adapter plate that ESR makes. it has a ridge that is on the adapter plate for the CR250. ESR knows I was testing this and they might come up with a new plate.
PLUS 100 WATTS for lighting AC or DC!!!!!!

I have been wondering if this would work for years. Let us know when you get more testing in. What's the cost of the service honda ignition.

Not Cheap at all.... If you go with DC than you need a battery too and so how to mount it....

Complete High Power Ignition is $529.00
Optional AC or DC voltage regulator can be added at any point.
AC regulator for use with high powered digital ignition $19.
DC regulator for use with high powed digital ignition $89.
Flywheel puller needed to remove CR500/500AF flywheel. Part # 15-0601 $13.95

Don't forget the ESR mounting plate...

its not a bad cost compared to what esr wants for the cr250r setup. I believe its close the $550 for everything.

I currently have a CR250 ESR ignition on my 250R, am really thinking about this since I can run lights. What coil does this use? Do you have to buy a CR500 coil or will my current CR250 coil work?

Figure I could buy this setup and sell the remaining parts of the CR250 ignition and all of my stock ignition stuff and cost won't be to bad. May have to find some time to call Service Honda this week...

What parts are needed to reconfigure a CR250 iginition? Just the stator? or Stator Coil and CDI?

Found this for 50w of power on a CR250, but I need at least 80w for a SPAL fan.

I used the ESR plate and cut off the ridge that's on it and I did use the coil from that I was using the on my CR250 ing. That's it... The link you sent is the company that is making it for Service Honda but the CDI box is a specialty programmed for Service Honda. I called them and asked if they would come up with the Stator with the CR250 back plate and they said sure but you have to buy a ton of them... They are more of an OEM company.... I should have my 400 done and mount I hope in a week or two... It all comes down to Money and time..

Any more riding done with this ignition? Pretty sure this is the way I am going for lights on my CT330, just figured I would check to see if you have any more feedback. Have to do something soon for lights, dreading putting my stock ignition back in!

Thanks,

Doug
